If you really wanted to correct the so called misinformation I am spreading why do you have to start with things like "IV member know that you don't want to volunteer"? Is this is supposed to intimidate me or you just trying to spin information for your own cause?
Please understand that I am not against what IV stands for and what the members do. What I don't agree with is the way some immature Senior members do by loosing their cool. Cutting off peoples thoughts and ideas in not right. I would go futher to make a bold suggestion, " IV has to screen these so called senior members for maturity before making them members who carry the message"
I am not blaming anyone here, but moderation in their temper is expected off the senior members in any place not just in this forum. Intimedation and threats have always resulted in the downfall of the whole group, history would teach us that.

Without a grassroot effort none of the other constituents would have been effective. You mention about the AILA lawsuit "threat," well, why didn't they actually file the lawsuit? We agree that the lawmaker's letter was instrumental in the July visa fiasco reversal. We had an unprecedented San Jose rally by legal immigrants. You need to get serious and need to contact your state chapter leader to get some more information about IV.

My lawyers sent all their applications to NSC, irrespective of where I 140 was processed. In reality i dont think there was any directive from USCIS askingthem not to do so.
Anyway.. my application was also received by M Schweitzer on Augs 1st 9am.
my I140 was cleared in Texas. So far nothing.
Its good to hear July 31st people getting updates.. gives me reason to cheer!!

Yeah, there was no directive from USCIS where to correctly send the application. As a matter of fact, USCIS said that we can send it in any of the four Service Center and it wouldn't be rejected. in trouble. I am not on H1 but I think the moment you get H1, in this case COS from H4 to H1 within few months you should have paying job. There will be problem at time of extension if no paystubs are present. Bench or not employer need to Pay H1b if he has hired one.

I got the e-mail saying that they have mailed my 485 approval notice on August 4 - but nothing after that - will the notice come to me at home or will it go to the lawyer - also how long before the card production e-mail gets here - not that I am in a tearing hurry - I have waited several years so what is another month ?

I think it is around 13 or 14...if they are under that, USCIS only takes a thumb print
I don't think there is a specific age where they will taken finger prints. Read my story.
My 15 yr old was the first to receive the notice. She was not in US at that time. I called the USCIS and informed them about this. They said they will postpone the appointment. But the postponement was only for 2 weeks. With the next notice I went to the local office. The security officer gave me a print out stating that I visited there for this reason. AND ACCORDING TO THAT NOTICE, FINGER PRINTING CAN BE DONE WITHIN 64 DAYS FROM THE ORIGINAL NOTICE. My child came back to US in 60 days and I took her to the local office walk in date. He got finger printed.
The very next week my 9 yr old got the notice. I took another appointment and next day I got a second finer printing notice for my elder one again. I took both of them to the local office and explained the situation. For my second child they did the finger printing and for my elder, they made a stamp on to the latest notice which was not at all clear.
Me and wife was never requested for a second finger printing. We all just got GREENED on August 6th.

1) Be serious about this action item, not only should we be sending out this email, but also encouraging all others- Including your colleagues, friends, family- GC Holders, Citizens to send this email to their lawmakers. Numbers matter.
2) We should follow up and make appointments Next week (It is a short week) or on Monday 29th November. When we go to this appointment, just focus on the message of this action alert. Wait for labor (go through labor pain..:-) ), do not get/expect promotion, Oh ya get your well educated spouse, Make them sit at home, make them feel unproductive, pay all your taxes, pay your social security BUT do not expect anything back, In the process if your kids age out separate them from you (send them back), If you wish to study pay highest fees, if you get promoted stand in queue again, pay frequent medical fees, AP, EAD fees, and yes YOU can always TRACK RNs for them. You can whine, post your opinions, when we change policies on the fly and create more hardships even if you have stayed here for more than 6 years, you can call up our customer service, be imaginative and get to level 2 and still get yelled at, asked to wait for 90 days (std reply), etc, but you can always go to good forum like IV and instead of working on your cause, create confusion, DEMAND action, not contribute....etc.

Well, following the discussion on BS and MS grads and some of the members cribbing why the MS(from US) students get special treatment, here are my 2 cents.
1) By makng sure that a person is MS they are making sure the population getting greencard is YOUNG !! , it's simple, highly educated "kids" who understand the US culture, since they have studied in US universities and have a whole life ahead of them to do good in Research etc.
Kids gel in fast for e.g if you see a person with BS and MS from the US, his behaviour is attuned to the society as compared to one who just has a MS and a BS from India.
2) On the other hand someone who has a MTech or worked 10 years in India, chances are these guys are already in their late 30's or 40's, so they are not getting the youth in, or a person who will take a lot more time to gel in the soceity as compared to the student.
3) Most importantly, they can't trust people whose degrees are not from the US. Their quality of education, their authenticity. Also, I think the quality of top 100 US univs, which most indians come to anyway, is much better than most of Indian Univs for MS. The kind of infrastructure and teaching they are exposed to is tremendous.
PS: Someone mentioned that PhD's get paid for reseach. Doing researrch is extremely demanding. I would rate it twice as demanding as a regular job! and the amount the students get is peanuts! Like ~$1500 a month for working ~ 60 hrs a week in research is hell !!
Unfortunately, in doing this you may loose some really good candidates, who may not have a US degree, but thats the price you pay "to be safe than sorry"
I think, this should help people who were complaining about this difference better understand that even though they have better profile, it's from a different country and it becomes difficult to verify that.
but, MOST IMPORTANTLY, it's in everyones( BS MS,H1,F1 ..) interest IRRESPECTIVE of the CIS or any other bill going through, the SKIL bill should make it to the floor.

Perhaps a few will move on... but there are those who have sincerely been hurt by this "bait and switch". I hope to believe that they would keep this up!
Besides, the aim is to create as much awareness as possible! If we can achieve that, half our job is done!
By the way... we don't have to give the "All the best" note in person. We can mail it! A single flower along with it will make it a little more effective.

My 485 application was received by TSC on July 16th. Intrestingly there are threads that are tracking applicaitons from July 2nd to July 13th and July 17 to Aug 17th? What is wrong with 16th? Are there are one with the same receipt date here?
